The Domino Effect
Domino is a generic name used to describe any of a number of games that involve the placement and toppling of small, oblong, rectangular pieces. Most domino sets are made of bone, silver lip ocean pearl oyster shell (mother of pearl), ivory or a dark wood such as ebony with contrasting black or white pips inlaid or painted on them. Sets are also manufactured from other natural materials, such as stone (e.g. marble, granite or soapstone), other types of wood (e.g. ash, redwood or cedar), metals (e.g. brass or pewter), ceramic clay, or even frosted glass or crystal.
In addition to the classic games of blocking and scoring, a great many other games have been developed using dominoes. Some of these were invented to circumvent religious proscriptions against playing cards; others are entirely original. Some domino games are based on pattern recognition or memory; others require skill and calculation.
Hevesh, a domino artist, creates stunning sets for movies and TV shows, including an album launch for pop star Katy Perry. She posts videos of her work on her YouTube channel, Hevesh5. Hevesh is often asked to provide domino sets for weddings and other events. She typically tests each part of an installation before assembling it all together. She also films the process of testing each section to make adjustments when necessary.
The domino theory is an economic phenomenon that states a change in one country will have a similar effect on neighboring countries. It is a type of feedback loop, where an initial change triggers a chain reaction in which subsequent changes occur at increasingly rapid rates. The term was coined by sociologist Jaron Long in his 1993 book, “The Domino Principle: How the Fall of Communism Created the Rise of Global Markets.”
When it comes to writing fiction, I try to get my clients to think of each scene as a domino. They can be as simple as a single scene, or they can be as complex as a whole storyline. The key is that they all need to work together, and each domino must be able to influence the next.

Nevertheless, CEO Don Meij remains confident in the company’s future and has laid out three goals for the company.
