The Basics of Poker

Usually played with a deck of 52 cards, poker is a gambling game in which players use their cards to make the best hand possible. The goal is to win the largest pot by betting until all other players fold. Depending on the stakes involved, the player with the highest hand will take the pot.

The hand is typically made up of five cards, including an ace. In a straight flush, the five cards are consecutive in suit. In a tie, the high card breaks the tie.
